Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Atlantic Ave. in Atlantic City
Cops in Atlantic City say a 66-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
The Atlantic City Police Department says at about 4:15 PM Wednesday, their officers responded to Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
When they arrived, they found 66-year-old Jill Collette of Atlantic City suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division where she was pronounced dead.
An initial investigation found Collette was walking across Atlantic Avenue in the crosswalk when the traffic signal for the opposite flow of traffic turned green. 69-year-old Daniel Sitarski of Brigantine was heading westbound on Atlantic Avenue and hit Collette.
According to the Atlantic City Police Department, just after 9:15 Christmas Day night, officers responded to the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a fight. As officers were responding, they received a ShotSpotter alert. Once on scene, cops found a 17-year-old man from Vineland suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police say an investigation by detectives led to two suspects being identified. A flyer was spread department-wide and within four hours both males, one 15-year-old and the other 16, were in custody; both were located in the same block as the shooting.
Galloway Man Injured in Fiery Crash on Pomona Road
Cops in Galloway say a township resident was seriously injured in a fiery crash on Pomona Road last week.
According to the Galloway Township Police Department, their officers responded to the area of South Pomona Road and Duerer Street around 4:00 last Wednesday afternoon after they received a report about a vehicle that hit a telephone pole and then overturned.
Arriving officers found a 2014 Jeep Cherokee overturned about 15 feet off of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 68-year-old James Ewing of Galloway, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by police as the vehicle caught fire.
Cops in Atlantic City say a man was arrested after breaking into a home and stabbing his ex-girlfriend and a man inside.
According to the Atlantic City Police Department, officers responded to the 600 block of Virginia Avenue around 11:00 Friday night after receiving a report of multiple people having been stabbed. Officers arrived to find a man and woman stabbed and the suspect fleeing the area.

The female victim, 35, was bleeding heavily from both arms and sustained life-threatening injuries. Officer Joseph Bereheiko, a trained EMT who carries a fully stocked medical bag, arrived quickly and placed two tourniquets on each arm and rendered life-saving medical aid. The male victim, 35, sustained a non-life threatening wound.
