Biden and Putin Will Meet to Confront Increasing Political Tensions

by Michael London | 05/25/2021 1:25 PM President Biden will meet with Russian President Putin in Geneva, Switzerland, in three weeks while the president is in Europe for the G7 and NATO summits in the U.K. and Brussels.   Next month, U.S. President Joe Biden will meet face-to-face with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva, Biden’s first meeting with Putin as president. The summit in Geneva will be taking place in the early months of the Biden presidency when complex relations between the U.S. and Russia are increasing. This summit is being tacked on as an afterthought to President Biden’s first foreign trip next month, including a visit to the United Kingdom to meet with members of the Group of Seven (G-7) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

According to his mother, Roman Protasevich is in hospital in critical condition - heart disease, Tadeusz Giczan, Protasevich s editor-in-chief, tweeted on Monday. Later on Monday afternoon, a video appeared on NEXTA, Protasevich s news platform, appearing to show the journalist saying the reports of heart problems were false and he s being treated well in jail while confessing to crimes that carry a 15-year prison sentence.
