Landfill workers dig through trash to find woman s lost wallet, wedding ring By (0) May 4 (UPI) Sanitation workers in New Jersey spent an hour and a half digging through the contents of a garbage truck to retrieve a wallet and wedding ring accidentally thrown away by a woman s 10-year-old son. Ruth Watson of Vineland said she had placed her wedding ring, wallet and some other items into a Dollar General bag while cleaning up around the house, and her 10-year-old son had confused the bag for trash and placed it out next to the curb. Advertisement Watson said she didn t realize what had happened until after the trash had been collected.

“I immediately called the trash company,” Watson-Utley said.  Word quickly spread to crews from the Atlantic County Utilities Authority.  “I was like, ‘Alright. We got to go to the dump. Dump it,’” Jovani Quiles, a member of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, told NBC10.  For an hour and a half, Quiles, Ramon Nazario, Paul Deola and Alfredo Perez dug through about ten tons of trash at a New Jersey landfill. Finally, they found Watson-Utley’s precious rings.  “It was very overwhelming and at the end, I was happy because I did a good deed for somebody that was looking for something valuable,” Quiles said.

Additional work will continue for as many as four weeks. “We’re focused on getting this thing solved as quickly as possible. The patch that had to be installed on a live force main came from Texas. They have to be specially fitted and designed and fabricated to fit this kind of pipe at this location,” utility spokesman Rick Dovey told New Jersey 101.5.
