A former New Jersey child protection worker was sentenced Tuesday to more than 20 years in federal prison – just about all which he’ll have to serve – for recording pornographic images of an underage boy in his care.
Kayan Frazier, 29, of Somers Point, also posed as a woman online to solicit similar images from boys, federal authorities said.
Frazier had joined the state Department of Child Protection and Permanency after he was fired as a substitute teacher in an Atlantic City school following an investigation of what authorities said was questionable conduct with male students.
It was unclear how he got the state job, given concerns that district officials had expressed over Frazier having a boy sleep overnight in his bed and texting with a 9-year-old student after school.

Law enforcement officers had received a report of child porn being distributed on Tumblr and they eventually identified Frazier, who was a case worker at the time with NJDCP&P, as the sender.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office obtained a search warrant for Frazier’s residence on April 12, 2019 and discovered the unfathomable.
He was with an underage boy.
Acting Attorney Honig said that law enforcement eventually recovered thousands of additional images of child sexual abuse on Frazier’s cell phone and other electronic media, which included images of the boy taken in Frazier’s apartment.

MAYS LANDING - An Atlantic City man has been indicted in connection with the overdose deaths of two tourists from the United Kingdom.
Tyrell Gist, 24, is accused of supplying illegal drugs to Scott P. Jordon, 43, and Simon Gamble, 40, who were found dead in a casino-hotel room in March 2020, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor s Office.
Surveillance video helped identify Gist as a suspect in the deaths, the prosecutor s office said Tuesday. He was arrested last month.
The investigation included analysis of drugs that were confiscated from Gist and that were also found in the victims room at Bally s Atlantic City Casino and Hotel, the prosecutor s office said.
