Met Éireann has tweeted charts and issued detailed updates of when the snow will arrive where it will fall and how much to expect along with update forecast on how long it will the cold snap last.
The animation below runs from midnight Wednesday to Friday afternoon. Met Éireann says the blue/yellow/wine colours mean rain while the white/green represents snow. It adds The heaviest snow will be over high ground in Munster and south Leinster.

Met Éireann s official storm weather forecasting partner has declared a Status Red warning for Storm Darcy which is caused by a bitterly cold front pushing east from Russia towards Ireland.
Met Éireann, the UK Met Office and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) work together to name and forecast winter storms likely to hit the three countries
There have been just three storms this winter and the Dutch service has named the fourth on Friday. It issued a Status Red alert on Saturday.

Speaking on RTÉ Evelyn Cusack, Met Éireann Head of Forecasting, outlined what to expect in the coming days as wet weather meets a cold front over Ireland. While it will get colder over the weekend concerns are growing around the days from Monday onwards with the potential for snow across the country.

Met Éireann has said it is on high alert for the second half of next week, as significant snow is expected.
Head of Forecasting Evelyn Cusack has said the country is in for some very cold weather from Sunday.
Speaking on RTÉ s News At One programme, Ms Cusack explained that a cold weather system is to move in from the Atlantic towards western Europe from Wednesday.
February is traditionally one of Ireland s coldest months, she added, and next week is due to bring some very inclement conditions .
