Total has reported its fourth quarter and full-year 2020 results. Consistent with its climate ambition, the Group recorded exceptional asset impairments of $10 billion, notably on Canadian oil sands assets, most of which were recorded in its accounts at the end of June, leading to an IFRS loss for the year of $7.2 billion. Proposes name change to TotalEnergies.

Total proposes name change

Total is to propose a name change to TotalEnergies to its shareholders to reflect its increased investment in renewables and electricity. During its fourth quarter and full year results for 2020 Total said the group affirms its plan to “transform itself into a broad energy company to meet the dual challenge of the energy transition: more energy, less emissions”. The group’s profile will be transformed over the 2020-30 decade with Total’s growth of energy production based on two pillars, renewables and electricity and liquified natural gas, while oil products are expecting to fall from 55% to 30% of sales. To anchor this transformation, Total will propose to its shareholders at the annual general meeting on 28 May 2021, changing its name to TotalEnergies.

Adani Green wins bids for 3 GW capacity in 6 4 GW AP solar tender

08 February 2021 Adani Green Energy has won 5 bids for a combined 3 GW capacity in the tender for 6.4GW floated by Andhra Pradesh Green Energy Corporation Limited (APGECL). Results of the tender released on Thursday showed that Adani Green Energy Limited, with 5 bids for packets of 600 MW each, priced in the range of Rs2.49 to Rs2.58/kWh. Torrent Power Limited, with a single winning bid for a 600 MW project, quoted the lowest price of Rs2.47/kWh. NTPC also won a 600 MW project at Rs2.48/kWh.  The final award of projects would be subject to the result of a suit filed in the state high court by Tata Power Renewable Energy.
