This past year also saw the signing of the historic Abraham Accords, through which Israel and several Arab and Muslim nations normalized their relations. The Accords show that, as the Human Fraternity document states, “dialogue, understanding and the widespread promotion of tolerance and acceptance of others” contribute significantly to reducing many of the problems that weigh so heavily on a large part of humanity.

VATICAN CITY, FEB 1 - Pope Francis will celebrate
the United Nations first International Day of Human Fraternity
on February 4 with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed at Abu Dhabi,
capital of the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of
the Grande Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, UN
Secretary-General, António Guterres and other personalities, the
Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue said Monday.
On the occasion, the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity will be
awarded, which is inspired by the historic Document on Human

According to a statement published Feb. 1 by the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, the pope will take part in the Feb. 4 virtual event, which will be hosted in Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the crown prince.

Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other public figures will also take part in the event, the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue said.
The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity will be given that day, with the meeting and ceremony streamed live in several languages.
The prize was inspired by the Document on Human Fraternity that the pope signed with Al-Tayyeb in Abu Dhabi during his inaugural visit to the Arabian peninsula two years ago.
