  Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has threatened to mention the names of about seven (7) Members of Parliament (MPs) who are standing in the way of progress in the Greater Accra region. These MPs, according to the Minister, reportedly had a secret meeting with the leaders of the onion sellers association and convinced them to resist their proposed relocation from Agbogbloshie to Adjen Kotoku. But the Regional Minister warned that his outfit will not countenance any resistance or opposition to agreed principles. The onion sellers after having so many discussions; we went through a lot of processes, now you show bad faith and follow these MPs? I can assure them that if by 1st July, they have not relocated, we will move them .

Prez Akufo-Addo Warns Ministers, CEOs, MMDCEs Not To Use Sirens

  President Akufo-Addo has warned government appointees, including Ministers of State, against using sirens to escape traffic in the country. A letter from the presidency said “only designated vehicles listed in the law can use the sirens”, as stipulated in the Road Traffic Regulation 74 (3) of L.1 2180. “Government vehicle used for official purposes by the Head of State, a police vehicle, fire service vehicle, ambulance, vehicle used by other recognized government security agencies and a bullion vehicle registered by the Licensing Authority can use sirens,” the letter further indicated, adding any person caught acting contrary to the law, “is liable for prosecution.”

  Presidential candidate aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Minister of Railways Development, Joe Ghartey, has received the coveted Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Award. The Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours was presented to Hon. Ghartey; Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng; for Trade and Industry Minister, Ekow Spio-Garbrah. In all, 15 former and serving ministers of state were honoured at the maiden Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours held in Accra last Saturday. The other awardees included former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Prof. Joshua Alabi; a former Defence Minister, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor; a former Minister of Information, Nana Akomea; a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hackman Owusu Agyemang; a former Minister of Tourism, Catherine Ablema Afeku; a former Minister of Works and Housing, Kwamena Bartels.
