Student Remanded Over Assault On Teacher Over Homework

  The Accra Juvenile Court “C” has remanded a Junior High School (JHS) final year pupil of the Nungua Kroma Two JHS, for allegedly assaulting a teacher who punished him for failure to do his homework. He has denied conspiring with 15 other men to assault the teacher and has been remanded into Police custody, his plea was not taken by the court. The court ordered the suspect to make his next appearance on March 18, 2021, whiles efforts were underway to apprehend his accomplices. The prosecution told the Court that the accused (name withheld) refused to do his homework and after he was punished for that, he dashed home to call 15 other young men who allegedly stormed the school in a Sprinter Bus and attacked the teacher, inflicting wounds on his face.

Motorway bridge undergoes emergency maintenance

+ Emergency maintenance works have begun on the damaged bridge over the Gbemi Stream on the Accra-Tema Motorway near the Ashaiman Underpass. The works, being carried out by the Bridge Maintenance Unit of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), are meant to put the bridge in good shape for use by motorists. The works, which will take six weeks to complete, involve the erection of a gabion wall and a retaining wall made of stacked stone-filled gabions tied together with wires to replace the wing walls which have been washed away due to erosion. Speaking to the Daily Graphic yesterday, the Project Manager, Alhaji Ameenu Abubakar, said an observation of the damaged bridge had revealed that the apron had partly collapsed.

Ghana: Third LiPF Launched in Accra

+ The third Livestock, Poultry, Fisheries (LiPF) Training Tradeshow has been launched with a call on the youth to take to agriculture to create their own jobs. The Chief of Party of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ghana Poultry Project (GPP), Madam Carianne De Boer, who made the call at the official launch of the LiPF at the Nungua Farms, said agriculture and particularly livestock, poultry and fisheries sectors held great prospects of creating employment for the youth. An initiative of Agrihouse Foundation, a non-governmental agricultural capacity building, innovation organisation committed to the promotion of agribusiness, the two-day programme is being organised in partnership with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winner’s Association of Ghana (NFAWAG).
