New program open to at-risk middle, high school girls through Tanager Place and African American Family Resource and Planning Committee

Free Admissions Available For 10 Cedar Rapids Attractions Freebie February has arrived. Looking back on a year that s been difficult for so many, including area attractions, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation and Cedar Rapids Tourism Office have launched a collaboration that allows area residents and visitors to get free admissions and memberships to ten local attractions.
At the
Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (above), you can get a family membership with unlimited free general admission to the museum, as well as the Grant Wood Studio. It covers two adults and all kids in that household that are under 18. There are 125 free memberships available. They re good through February 28, 2022.

As the Community Foundation of Washington County cancelled their annual fundraiser last fall due to COVID-19, they’re finding new avenues to fundraise and spread awareness of their organization through a new monthly promotion.
The non-profit public charity is hosting “Foundation Fridays” on the fourth Friday of each month beginning on January 22nd, where various businesses in the county will be offering promotional pieces for people to learn about what the charity does. The community foundation is an affiliate of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation which offers permanent endowments to give funds to local organizations and initiatives to ensure that gifts given through the foundation will last forever. Executive Director Millie Youngquist shares some recent endowments made through the foundation include the Chicaqua Izaak Walton League Outdoor Education Fund for the Friends of Lake Darling, the Mike Orris Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Washington County Fair Board,
Mirrorbox Theatre expanding virtual play readings in 2021

Hallman, of Cedar Rapids, founded Mirrorbox Theatre in 2018 to present “Iowa-premiere plays as dramatic reflections on contemporary culture.” Out the Box moved Mirrorbox to an online format during the pandemic, presenting 32 readings, beginning with “Ghost Light” on March 20.
