SKNVibes | Design recovery programme to revive economies, enhance resilience – CARICOM Secretary-General

(CARICOM), Press Release (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana - Tuesday, 6 July 2021) - Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said that the Region needed to design a post-pandemic recovery programme that would not only revive economies, but enhance resilience as well.   Ambassador LaRocque gave the advice on Monday, 5 July, during the opening of the Forty-Second Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM. He was one of three speakers at the opening of the two-day Summit which is being hosted virtually. Chairman of CARICOM, the Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, and outgoing Chairman, Dr. the Hon. Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, also spoke at the event.

(CARICOM), Press Release (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana - Tuesday, 6 July 2021) -  After months of lobbying third states and international institutions for them to share their supplies of COVID-19 vaccines with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Region is now closer to inoculating “as many citizens as possible,” Outgoing Chair of CARICOM, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago said on Monday, 5 July.   He gave this update to the opening ceremony of the 42nd Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, as he summarized the achievements of his leadership from 1 January - July 1. The Meeting is being held virtually for the second consecutive year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

(CARICOM), Press Release (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana - Tuesday, 6 July 2021)  -  As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) continues to confront challenges on several fronts, Chairman, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, is lauding the establishment of several institutions which are at the forefront of the Region s responses.   In an address to the opening of the Forty-Second Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM on Monday 5 July, the Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister spoke of the convergence of economic, social, environmental, financial and health “storms” which the Community faced.  The challenge, he said, threatened the very survival of the Region and underscored its vulnerability.
