While 600-800 Covid beds have been vacant for the past 10 days, the rush of patients seeking oxygen support and intensive care remained constant.
For almost a month, Covid facilities in the district have been fully packed and many patients had to be turned away. Although additional beds were readied at many facilities, they got occupied almost immediately. Currently, the district has 3,814 Covid beds of which 2,742 are oxygen and ICU beds.
From Thursday, the district administration will put in place a new system that has to be followed by the 24 hospitals treating Covid patients.

NOIDA/GREATER NOIDA: Following a state government order issued on May 7, which said the government will bear the cost for cremation of Covid patients, the Noida Authority has appointed two senior officials at Antim Niwas. They will oversee the process at the Sector 94 crematorium that has been handling 50-60 bodies almost every day for the past few weeks.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) will also follow a similar model to handle the cremation process, officials said. The prominent crematorium for the city is at Shafipur. The order had said cremations would be conducted at the behest of the local urban or rural bodies and expenses of up to Rs 5,000 in each case would be handled by the local authority. Later, the amount would be reimbursed by the government.
Greater Noida: On the lines of Noida Authority, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is going to initiate a drive to provide oxygen for those in home isolation. Officials in the authority have started reaching out to residents of apartment complexes in Noida Extension area, however, the residential colonies and blocks having row houses are yet to be covered.
GNIDA chief executive officer (CEO) Narendra Bhooshan, who is also the nodal officer for Covid-19 management in Gautam Budh Nagar district, said: “Supply of oxygen to hospitals treating Covi-19 patients is our priority in the present scenario. At the same time, a team of officials has been asked to assess the demand of those in home isolation in Greater Noida. We will try to work out a proper arrangement for the residents recovering at home as well.”

Noida: The district administration has sought support from the local development authorities to tackle the shortage of oxygen for patients in home isolation, officials have said.
After a meeting on Friday, a list of large public sector plants is being prepared and the officials have zoomed in on Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited plant in Haridwar for supplies.
The development authorities will look at logistics and arrange for vehicles to bring loaded oxygen cylinders into the city.
Nodal officer for Covid-19 management and the chief executive officer of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, Narendra Bhooshan, said that businessmen who want to volunteer are being identified.
