A look at recent graduates in a mostly remote world

It has been more than a year since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. In a matter of days, many businesses, schools and other organizations were forced to take operations remote to slow the virus’s spread.
ASU students had to connect with their professors through webcams, halt their extracurricular activities and, for the graduating Class of 2020, hold a virtual commencement ceremony. Despite the challenges, graduates made the most of their situations.
We checked in with the Class of 2020 to see how they have adapted to working in such a unique environment with some not having set foot into their offices or met their new colleagues in person. What we’ve found is that this resilient class has been able to apply their skills with agility and grace.

PHOENIX Another company committed to developing an electric vehicle is coming to Arizona.
ElectraMeccanica broke ground on an 18-acre area not far from the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The company says 200 to 500 people will be employed at the eventual 235,000 square foot facility. Their task? At least some of them will work to assemble the brand s flagship electric vehicle dubbed “SOLO.” Its name derives from its single occupancy design.
(NASDAQ: SOLO) ( ElectraMeccanica or the Company ), a designer and manufacturer of electric vehicles, commemorated the start of construction for its new U.S. Assembly and Engineering Technical Center with a groundbreaking ceremony held yesterday in Mesa, AZ.
In attendance were more than 50 invited guests, Company Board Members and local dignitaries, including Arizona Commerce Authority President Sandra Watson, who kicked the event off with a keynote address. Ms. Watson was joined at the podium by the President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council Chris Camacho, Mesa Mayor John Giles and ElectraMeccanica’s President and CEO Paul Rivera.
The 235,000 square foot facility is located on 18 acres of land adjacent to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport. It will include an assembly and manufacturing plant, a research center, 22,000 square feet of office space and 19,000 square feet of lab space.
