A police officer A HELPLINE offering support services to victims of crime has been launched in the wake of a damning inspection of Greater Manchester Police (GMP). Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) report of GMP found failings such as the force losing records of 80,000 cases. Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, who was in charge of the force for five years, stepped down after the report on Friday. The Greater Manchester Crime Support Line will provide support to victims who may have concerns about how their crime has been recorded by GMP or if they would like support to help them cope and recover.

A new helpline offering support services to victims of crime in Greater Manchester has been launched today (Monday).
It follows an announcement made by the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham and Deputy Mayor Bev Hughes last week after the publication of Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS)’s damning report Greater Manchester Police - Victim Service Assessment (VSA) .
