Coronavirus has taken a terrible toll on people’s lives and physical health. Less obvious are the serious and potentially long-lasting effects it is having on people’s mental health and wellbeing. After a year of lockdowns and restrictions, many people are desperately worried about their family and friends, or stressed about their jobs and incomes. Isolation has been particularly tough for young people, who are missing their classmates or struggling with remote learning, anxiety, poor sleep and loss of interest in anything. Technology has been invaluable in helping people to work, learn and stay in touch: but virtual relationships are not the complete answer.
NEW data has revealed the percentage of people from vulnerable groups in Sussex who have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The provisional figures from NHS England show the proportion of people aged 70-74, 75-79, and 80 and over who have had their first jab in each sub-regional area of England. In Sussex, the data concerns the area looked after by the Sussex Health and Care Partnership. It shows that 22.7 per cent of people aged 70-74 in the area have received their first dose of the vaccine, 78 per cent of 75-79-year-olds have been given the jab and 86 per cent of people aged 80 and above have had a Covid vaccine.
