Blizzard Aaliyah settled over the Greater Grand Forks region, offering reminders that winter has just begun.
As snow tapered off from the northwest, snowfall amounts were expected to be lower in the central Red River Valley and higher near central Minnesota. Blowing snow and dangerous conditions presented themselves throughout Wednesday, Dec. 23, according to a warning from the National Weather Service.
Overnight snow totals are still preliminary, but National Weather Service meteorologist Jacob Spender said Grand Forks received about 0.8 inches of snow by Wednesday morning, and Mayville about a half-inch.

Ring a bell from porch at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve to ring out 2020 in Grand Forks area
The four local Lions Clubs are encouraging Grand Forks residents to ring a bell from their porch from 6 to 6:05 p.m. on Christmas Eve to spread positivity and ring 2021. 1:50 pm, Dec. 22, 2020 ×
