(WWBT) - Richmond and Henrico residents who need transportation to their COVID-19 vaccine appointments have a new option: GRTC. The Greater Richmond Transit Company is offering free, on-demand rides for patients with vaccine appointments. UZURV, a transportation company, will assist with the rides. “Vaccines are available right now for the most vulnerable people in our region, yet there are many who have no transportation to vaccine clinics and no access to bus routes serving the clinics,” said Julie Timm, GRTC’s CEO. “GRTC’s partnership with local Health Departments and UZURV will extend door-to-door service beyond our normal bus routes for vaccination appointments.”

(WWBT) - The Greater Richmond Transit Company announced Saturday that it will resume its normal routes and services on Sunday. Customers are cautioned that service delays and detours are still possible on Sunday. If necessary, GRTC may implement snow routes on Sunday, or only on certain routes. During these routes, buses will only stop at bus stops with a snowflake icon on the sign. Buses will display an alert reading “SNOW ROUTES IN EFFECT.” Customers can check for service updates online at this link or by calling 804-358-GRTC.

Norfolk took note and launched a year-long public process that produced a new bus network this month which aims to overhaul the face of public transportation in a region that recorded 18,653 scheduled buses that never arrived in one year alone.
