LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. President Joe Biden will be announcing a moratorium on new oil and gas leasing on U.S. lands as the administration moves to change Trump-era policies on the environment and address climate change, according to a report from the Associated Press published Tuesday.
GLPC, Fourchon Enter 2021 With a Fresh New Look

The Greater Lafourche Port Commission (GLPC) launched its new Fourchon logo today, January 14, 2021, with assistance from Thibodaux-based brand consultancy agency, White Car.
With input from the GLPC and its dedicated Board of Commissioners, White Car worked in concert with the GLPC’s communications team to produce a main logo that focuses on Port Fourchon’s bright future as it continues to act as the central Gulf’s premier service and supply hub for the offshore oil and gas industry.
“We believe the timing of this logo revamp felt right,” GLPC Executive Director Chett Chiasson said. “As we enter 2021, we are filled with fresh hope and optimism that this year will be a better one for our region, state, and country. This logo reflects that optimism with its bold coloring and design. It also sets the stage for the future to create new opportunities for our port and community through its use.”
Terrebonne and Lafourche waterway projects win final approval after Trump signs bill
Two oilfield navigation projects in Terrebonne and Lafourche are among Louisiana projects that won final approval Sunday after a week of political debate over Congress COVID-relief and government spending bill.
The measure includes authorization for nearly $350 million worth of work that would deepen the Houma Navigation Canal as well as Belle Pass in south Lafourche.
They are among Louisiana projects included in the Water Resources Development Act, which Congress wrapped into the stimulus package and spending bill before sending it to President Donald Trump.
The water bill, approved every two years, only authorizes the projects; Congress would have to pass a separate measure appropriating the money to pay for the work, something that is not guaranteed. A report by the corps last year says a backlog of $98 billion in projects Congress has authorized in WRDA bills still awaits money.

After completing a lengthy Section 203 Feasibility Study Report with its own funds, the Greater Lafourche Port Commission received some great news regarding the passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020.
The package of spending bills that Congress passed overnight including the WRDA Bill, which was a multi-thousand-page document that requires federal approval and the backing of delegation members, has given the port authorization to begin dredging Belle Pass, Bayou Lafourche, and the Northern Expansion to 30 feet in the coming years.

The projects are among several Louisiana lawmakers say they were successful in adding to the Water Resources Development Act. The measure won House approval Tuesday and now heads to the Senate.
