However, the decision to hold elections in five municipalities and two municipal corporations in the State goes completely against these instructions.

Warangal: The nominations for the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) began on Friday (April 16, 2021).
13 candidates have filed their nominations on the first day. To receive the nominations, the Telangana state government administration has set up two centres one at LB College and the other at University Arts College.
The names of those who filed their nominations on day one include Ganta Ravi Kumar-BJP 34th Division; Chintakula Anil-BJP 27th Division, Chippa Laxmi-Congress 23rd Division; Banoth Sudhir-Independent 2nd Division; Kommuni Suresh-TRS 39th Division; Bollam Sridevi-TRS 32nd Division; Repalle Sree Ranganath-Ind 4th Division; Vikram Bommathi-Ind 6th Division; Ravula Komala-BJP 30th Division; Velpula Mohan Rao-TRS 31st Division; Puppala Rajanikanth-AIFB 52nd Division; Kranthi Kumar Reddy Malla-Ind 53rd Division; Pathi Sampath Reddy-TRS 61st Division.

Commission directs ROs not to insist on ‘no due’ document
The State Election Commission clarified that no directions have been issued from the Commission mandating submission of “no due” certificate by candidates while filing their nomination papers.
In a direction given to all municipal commissioners going to polls later this month including election to nine casual vacancies in as many urban local bodies (ULBs) including the GHMC, Secretary of SEC M. Ashok Kumar said on Saturday that it was brought to the Commission’s notice that some ROs were insisting upon producing “no due” certificate issued by the Municipal Authority for acceptance of candidates’ nominations this time.

The State Election Commission (SEC) has notified ward-wise reservation for local body elections in Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations and Siddipet, Jadcherla, Atchampet, Nakrekal and Kothur municipalities scheduled to be conducted later this month.
Of the 66 wards in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, 16 are unreserved, 17 are reserved for general-women, 10 for backward classes-general, 10 for BC-women, 6 for Scheduled Castes-general, 5 for SC-women, 1 for Scheduled Tribes-general and 1 for ST-women.
In Khammam Municipal Corporation, having a total of 60 wards, 14 are unreserved, 16 are reserved for general-women, 10 for BC-general, 10 for BC-women, 4 for SC-general, 3 for SC-women, 2 for ST-general and 1 for ST-women.

The Telangana State Election Commission on Thursday has issued notification for the elections for two Municipal Corporations and five municipalities, which will be held on April 30.
Nominations can be filed between 16 and 18 of April from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM and scrutiny of nominations will take place on the 19th.
The Model code of conduct will be applicable to the area where the elections are notified.
Elections for 248 wards in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and Khammam Municipal Corporation, and Achampet, Siddipet, Nakrekal, Jadcherla and Kothur municipalities will be held. The last date for filing nominations is April 18 and they can be withdrawn before April 22. A total of 1,532 Polling stations will be set up for the polls.
