Fentanyl, firearms seized in $30 million bust targeting drug trafficking in Victoria, Lower Mainland

“When we talk about the scope of this project, this is the top of the fentanyl trafficking pyramid in British Columbia,” said Victoria Police Chief Del Manak. “This sends a strong message that police agencies are united across the province.” The operation began in early June, when Victoria police’s Strike Force discovered a group it was watching was trafficking fentanyl on the Lower Mainland as well as in Victoria. The Strike Force then joined B.C.’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit for an investigation covering both areas, dubbed Project Juliet. On Nov. 17, Victoria officers, including the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, executed search warrants on a vehicle and three residences on Fisgard Street, Fairfield Road and View Street.

$30M fentanyl bust carried out by VicPD, B C combined forces

VICTORIA Three men have been arrested and a massive amount of illegal drugs, including highly concentrated fentanyl, were seized alongside 20 firearms following a joint investigation by Victoria Police and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC). The drugs seized have an estimated value of $30 million, according to VicPD, and the more than 12 kilograms of fentanyl recovered is enough to cause approximately 3,975,000 lethal doses. The drugs and firearms were discovered on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland after an investigation into organized crime was launched in Victoria in early June. Investigators with VicPD’s Strike Force reportedly traced fentanyl trafficking in Victoria to an organized crime group and fentanyl supply chain in the Lower Mainland.
