Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner G. Srijana said that the civic body is making all arrangements for the TIDCO houses and house sites patta distribution programme scheduled on December 25.
She said that the distribution programme will be completed by January 5. She was speaking at a review meet conducted by Tourism Minister M. Srinivasa Rao in the GVMC office here on Saturday.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao instructed the officials to complete the lottery process by Saturday evening. He also asked the GVMC Commissioner to hand over the list of beneficiaries to Zonal Commissioners concerned. MLAs T. Nagi Reddy and Vasuapalli Ganesh Kumar, and a few others were present.

Tender to be floated to award contract for its operation
The wagon repair workshop (WRS) at Vadlapudi, located in the limits of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), is set to become operational soon with tender being floated to award the contract for its operationalisation.
The work on the WRS, taken up at an estimated cost of ₹213.97 crore allocated in the 2015-16 Railway Budget, was completed in December last.
The WRS, set up in an extent of 203 acres of land, is equipped to repair 200 wagons a month. It has a three-line interchange yard, a station building, and has about 20 km total length of railway track within the WRS. An administration building and staff quarters have been constructed on a 57-acre site adjacent to the WRS complex.

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is working towards eliminating dumper bins across the city in order to improve its ranking on the Garbage-Free Cities (GFC) list as part of Swachh Survekshan 2021.
As part of a pilot project towards this initiative, the corporation will be removing 16-20% of dumper bins in the civic body limits.
