Hoping for best, Telangana prepares for second wave of COVID-19 pandemic
The State is returning to its phase of high-preparedness by resuming the functioning of quarantine centres, dedicating one hospital in each district to treatment and prepping up oxygen supply.

HYDERABAD: As Telangana stares at a second wave of the pandemic, the State s Health Department has gotten into high gear with a slew of measures, one of them being a new mobile application to improve the trace-test mechanism.
Also, the State is returning to its phase of high-preparedness by resuming the functioning of quarantine centres, dedicating one hospital in each district to COVID-19 treatment, prepping up oxygen availability in hospitals, resuming COVID-19 call centres, and allocating special ambulances.
Telangana reported 1,321 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single day spike so far this year, pushing the tally to over 3.12 lakh, while the toll rose to 1,717 with five more fatalities. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 320, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 144 and Rangareddy 121, a government bulletin said on Sunday providing details as of 8 pm on April 3. The total number of cases stood at3,12,140, while 293 patients were cured, taking the total recoveries to 3,02,500. The state has 7,923 active cases and62,973 samples were tested on Saturday. Cumulatively, nearly 1.04 crore samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was over 2.79 lakh, the bulletin said.

The state has 7,923 active cases and 62,973 samples were tested on Saturday. Cumulatively, nearly 1.04 crore samples have been tested.
Telangana records 1,078 fresh COVID-19 cases, six fatalities until Friday night
Hyderabad, Apr 3 (UNI) With no sign of any ebb, the surge in COVID-19 cases continues in Telangana as the state registered a whopping 1,078 fresh Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Friday taking the daily count of positive cases to 3,10,819 as on date.
The state recorded six fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll as of Friday to 1,712 translating a case fatality rate of 0.55 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.5 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Saturday.
