Hyderabad, Jan 24 : Enthusiastic participation by youngsters and those young-at-heart was on display in the 10km and 5km runs organised on Sunday at the Durgam Cheruvu cable-stayed bridge, a new landmark in Hyderabad, to mark the National Girl Child Day.
Over 1,000 people participated in the first-ever running events held on the bridge, which was thrown open to the public in September last. A large number of boys and girls were among the enthusiastic participants.
Arvind Kumar, Secretary, Urban Development, government of Telangana, flagged off the runs organised by Inorbit Mall.
The samples tested per million population was over 2.05 lakh, the bulletin said.

HYDERABAD: Telangana s COVID-19 caseload hurtled past 2.93 lakh with 221 fresh additions and two related fatalities.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 36, followed by Karimnagar and Medchal Malkajgiri with 17 and 16 respectively, a government bulletin said on Saturday providing details as of 8 pm on January 22.
The total number of cases stood at 2,93,056 while recoveries were at 2,87,899.
As many as 3,569 patients are under treatment and 30,005 samples were tested on Friday.
Cumulatively, over 76.32 lakh samples have been tested.

Hyderabad, Jan 22 : Election for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Greater Hyderabad will be held on February 11.
The Telangana State Election Commission on Friday directed the election authority and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner to conduct the election on February 11 at 12.30 p.m.
State Election Commissioner (SEC) C. Partha Sarathi has issued a notification for the election, directing the election authority and GHMC Commissioner to authorise one of the District Collectors having jurisdiction over any area comprising the GHMC to conduct the election to the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
