karyakarta (committed worker) recruitment drive for the party as well as its frontal organisations keeping an eye on general elections due in 2024. The party appoints karyakartas regularly to promote Hindu nationalism at the ground level.
The exodus of several MLAs and Former Ministers from the Telugu Desam Party to the ruling YSR Congress Party headed by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has given it the confidence at the prospects of becoming a formidable force. It is now targeting influential leaders from both TDP and Congress after a strategic alliance with film star Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena.
News LATEST Updates: The number of persons infected with the UK variant of coronavirus in Maharashtra rose to 11 on Thursday with three new cases coming to light, a state health official said. All 11 cases are asymptomatic, he added. So far there were eight passengers with the new strain found in the UK which is 70 percent more infectious. Now three more samples sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune have also come out positive, he said. All three new patients are from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area near Pune city, he said. Of total 11 cases, one each is from Gujarat and Goa.
These Frontline Workers In Telangana Will Get First COVID Vaccine Shots Jan 07, 2021, 11:09 IST
HYDERABAD: The government has devised their COVID-19 vaccine plan. According to the plan, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be administering the vaccine shots first to frontline workers. Around 70,000 to 75,000 frontline workers in all the urban local bodies (ULBs) of the State could be qualified for the vaccination.
Initially 29,000 workers including health experts, medical officers, sanitary workers and others have been selected. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) released guidelines for the immunization process and gave nine categories for the municipal workers. The workers falling in these categories will be eligible for vaccination. The categories include health care workers, sanitation staff and others.

Telangana recorded 379 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total to 2,88,789. While 41,246 people were examined, results of 453 were awaited. Three more patients died.
The new 379 cases include 71 from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 37 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 36 from Rangareddy, and 19 from Karimnagar. The lowest of one case was recorded in Narayanpet.
From March 2 to January 6, a total of 71,45,613 samples were tested and 2,88,789 were detected with coronavirus. Out of the total cases, 5,053 were active cases, 2,82,177 have recovered and 1,559 have died.

Vijayawada: A spate of desecrations reported at temples in Andhra Pradesh has turned into a political slugfest, with opposition parties Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BJP trying to corner the government of YSR Congress Party by accusing it of ‘betraying’ Hindus.
The police have not made any headway in finding connections in the spate of attacks, making the circumstances around the incidents more mysterious.
