GHMC planning to convert function halls into COVID care centers
There are 30 constituencies within the limits of GHMC and the Deputy Commissioners in each constituency have been alerted to set up a functional hall in their respective areas as a COVID-19 Care Center.

Hyderabad: As Hyderabad languishes under a fresh surge of COVID-19 cases amid a lack of resources and facilities, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to convert the air-conditioned function halls into COVID care centers for critical patients.
According to the GHMC authorities, function halls in each circle across six zones under the civic body’s jurisdiction have been identified. Deployment of additional doctors and medical staff for treating patients is underway.

There is a small dip in the number of COVID-19 positive cases with 6,026 on May 5 when compared to 6,361 cases detected the previous day with the number of tests conducted showing a rise at 79,824 as against the 77,435 tests conducted the day before.

Continuing the trend of high incidence of COVID-19, Karnataka on Tuesday reported 44,631 new cases, of which 20,870 were from Bengaluru Urban, and 292 deaths.
The test positivity rate (TPR) for the day stood at 29.03% and 1,53,707 tests were conducted, including 1,40,609 RT-PCR tests.

Hyderabad– The Telangana State Forest Development Corporation on Tuesday decided to provide 1,000 tonnes of firewood free of cost to crematoriums in and around Hyderabad in view of the high demand for wood for funerals on account of increasing deaths due to Covid.
SFDC Chairman Vanteru Pratap Reddy said the decision to provide wood has been taken on humanitarian grounds.
The Corporation acted in response to media reports that crematoriums are facing acute shortage of firewood due to increasing number of Covid deaths.
eddy pointed out that SFDC takes up plantation on large scale every year and paper mills procure this wood. He said 1,000 tonnes of wood currently available with the Corporation will be supplied free of cost to crematoriums in and around Hyderabad.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 5 (ANI): Telangana recorded 6,361 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of positive cases to 4,69,722, said the state health ministry on Wednesday.
As many as 51 people succumbed to the disease during the same period, taking the cumulative death toll to 2,527.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 77,704.
The state also witnessed as many as 8,126 recoveries during the same period, taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,89,491.
The recovery rate of the state is 82.91 per cent and the case fatality rate stands at 0.53 per cent.
