The Telangana State Election Commission on Thursday has issued notification for the elections for two Municipal Corporations and five municipalities, which will be held on April 30.
Nominations can be filed between 16 and 18 of April from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM and scrutiny of nominations will take place on the 19th.
The Model code of conduct will be applicable to the area where the elections are notified.
Elections for 248 wards in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and Khammam Municipal Corporation, and Achampet, Siddipet, Nakrekal, Jadcherla and Kothur municipalities will be held. The last date for filing nominations is April 18 and they can be withdrawn before April 22. A total of 1,532 Polling stations will be set up for the polls.

Hyderabad: In the wake of coronavirus spreading rapidly, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stopped updating the details of COVID-19 infection on its website.
GHMC used to update collective data of the containment zones, patients and covid beds. But lately, they haven t been updating the website with the latest information. The relentlessness of GHMC is reflected in the part that it never even took efforts to present the area wise reports. There were a total of 2,960 cases reported as per the GHMC website on April 13.

Telangana recorded 3,307 positive COVID cases on Wednesday, which is the highest on a single day in the State so far, and also marked the third time that the infections crossed 3,000 mark this month. There were 3,187 cases on April 10 and 3,052 on April 12.
With surge in cases, a new high in the pandemic is being recorded as days pass by. Wednesday’s tally of 3,307 cases was the highest since March 2 last year when the first case was detected in the State.

The stage is set for conduct of elections to two municipal corporations and five municipalities in the State.
The State Election Commission issued schedule for the elections to these urban local bodies on Thursday and 11.26 lakh voters 5.53 lakh male, 5.72 lakh female and 236 others would exercise their franchise. Elections are scheduled to be held for 248 wards in Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and Khammam Municipal Corporation as also to Atchampet, Nakrekal, Siddipet, Jadcherla and Kothur municipalities.
