Orange County Deputies Cleared in Laguna Niguel Shooting
The Orange County District Attorney’s office (OCDA) has vindicated two police officers who were under investigation for a fatal Laguna Niguel shooting.
In a letter to Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes, OCDA Todd Spitzer said the deputies’ use of force was consistent with the law.
The letter included a report prepared by Senior Deputy District Attorney Janine Madera, stating that the officer’s actions were justified under the circumstances.
Officer-Involved Shooting
Stephan Curtis McCulloch, 32, was shot by police last May as he was about to strike his girlfriend with a hammer, the OCDA report said.
Following the announcement that charges wouldn't be filed against the Kansas City, Missouri, police officer who shot and killed a 47-year-old man – and questions from his family – a department spokesperson discussed training and protocol with 41 Action News.
WADENA Authorities have identified the two men who died during an officer-involved shooting Saturday night near Wadena.
The Midwest Medical Examiner s Office has identified the men as 42-year-old David Savela and 36-year-old Shannon Savela, both of Sebeka. The brothers died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities say Wadena County Deputy Troy Mayor attempted to pull over David Savela s vehicle for speeding shortly before 9:00 p.m. A struggle happened between the deputy and Savela.
A second vehicle, driven by Shannon Savela, then came to the scene, followed by officer Jason Worm from the Sebeka Police Department.
