PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) - A man accused of opening fire on a Paragould police officer to avoid arrest will not be getting out of jail for a while.
Taj Christopher Harris, 21, is being held without bond after Greene County District Court Judge Dan Stidham found probable cause Monday to arrest him on the following charges:
Battery in the first degree
Aggravated assault
Obstructing governmental operations
According to the affidavit, Harris shot at a Paragould police officer numerous times while attempting to avoid arrest.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) Long Beach officers fatally shot a suspect Saturday night after the man allegedly threatened multiple drivers with a gun.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. near 15th Street and Magnolia Avenue, about a mile from the LBPD headquarters, said department spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria.
Police say the man was pointing a gun at passing vehicles. When officers arrived, the suspect allegedly refused to drop the gun and a shooting occurred.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Chavarria said.
A gun was recovered at the scene, according to authorities.
A search for one of two suspects continues late into Wednesday afternoon after they escaped from Montgomery County deputies and shot at DPS troopers during a traffic stop.

According to deputies, a man who was out of the vehicle during the stop ran back in, tried to take off and attempted to run over an officer.
