Taylor Swift will receive the global icon award at the 2021 Brit Awards, which will be held on Tuesday, May 11. Swift will become the first female artist and the first non-English artist to receive the award, which the Brits characterize as their highest accolade. The only previous recipients are Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016) and Robbie Williams (2017).
The award is given “in recognition of her immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date.”
Swift could leave the event with two awards. She is also nominated for international female solo artist, an award she won in 2015. She is competing in that category with four other American artists Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B and Miley Cyrus.

The 31-year-old singer will become the first woman to be presented with the gong at the ceremony on Tuesday night (11.05.21) at London s The O2 arena, and the cardigan hitmaker has been recognised for her immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date .
A Brits statement read: Taylor’s career is unparalleled and her music and influence has resonated with millions of people all over the world. She’s used her platform to highlight many issues globally and recently has been applauded for her work promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ community.

Pop star Taylor Swift is to become the first female winner of the Global Icon award at the Brits on Tuesday.
She will also be the first non-British recipient of the prize, which the Brits characterise as their highest honour.
Only three other artists have been named Brits Icons - Sir Elton John, David Bowie and Robbie Williams.
Swift is not expected to perform at the ceremony, which will take place with an audience as part of the government s pilot scheme for live events.
