PARKERSBURG With the time change on Sunday morning, residents are reminded to also change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, officials said.
Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday when clocks must be moved forward one hour.
According to both Parkersburg Fire Department Chief Jason Matthews and Lowell-Adams Volunteer Fire Department Chief Josh Harris, it’s also a good time to change the batteries in those devices as well.
“When you change your clocks forward or back, we always encourage everybody to change your batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors,” Harris said. “Our biggest thing is, if someone doesn’t have one in the Adams Township fire district, all they have to do is get ahold of me. I’ll talk to our fire department about getting some for them.”
