After a slow start at the Yonex Thailand Open, some of India s best badminton players put in impressive displays at the Toyota Thailand Open. While India s wait for a World Tour 1000 title continues, there were some players who stood out. Here are the marks out of ten (only players who won a minimum of one match have been marked):

At just 20, Rankireddy became the first Indian player in history to make the semis in two categories at a World Tour 1000 event at the Toyota Thailand Open.

BADMINTON: Women’s singles star Ratchanok Intanon and mixed doubles duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai booked places in the semi-finals of the Toyota Thailand Open yesterday (Jan 22).

They are Thailand’s only players remaining in the US$1 million (B30mn) tournament at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
In yesterday’s mixed doubles quarter-finals, top seeds Dechapol and Sapsiree came from behind to beat South Korea’s Ko Sung-Hyun and Eom Hye-Won 27-29, 21-15, 21-9.
“We were trying not to defend too much. We tried to control every point and attack our opponents. In the first game, they kept things to their pace and had us moving a lot,” said Sapsiree.
Bangkok [Thailand], January 22 (ANI): Indian men s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the doubles semifinal with a scintillating win over Malaysia s Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi in the ongoing Thailand Open on Friday.
Satwiksairaj, who has also qualified for the mixed doubles semi-finals, along with Chirag won the 37-minute long match in two consecutive sets (21-18, 24-22). The second set saw the game going down to the wire but the Indian duo ensured they get over the line in the quarter-final clash.
In another match, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu crashed out of the tournament after losing to Ratchanok Intanon in the quarterfinal clash.
