Second Harvest Food Bank Community Food Drive

The Second Harvest Food Bank is hosting a community food drive in April. KATC is reporting that the food bank is hosting the drive in recognition of this month being Senior Hunger Awareness Month. WHY DO WE NEED A FOOD DRIVE? According to the report, Louisiana ranks almost dead last on yet another list, as 23% of seniors in Louisiana are not always certain of how they will get their next meal, which is why Second Harvest is hosting the event. Many seniors live on a fixed income. They skip meals or choose between buying groceries or paying their rent or utility bills, or even medication - Paul Scelfo, Second Harvest Food Bank via KATC

COVID Tele-Town Hall for Acadiana & Lake Charles Planned

COVID Tele-Town Hall for Acadiana & Lake Charles Planned Throughout the course of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been one thing that most Americans have been asking for. That thing is clear concise information about the disease that is not tainted with a political spin. Residents of Louisiana Department of Health Regions 4 and 5 will be able to get those answers in a special virtual event planned for Monday, April 12th. The purpose of the online event is to answer questions, address concerns, debunk myths, and take direct questions about COVID-19 and the vaccines that are being offered throughout the state. Vaccination hesitancy is reported by the Louisiana Public Health Institute to be the highest among Louisiana s African-American community and among white women.

COVID Vaccination Call Center Now Open in Acadiana

COVID Vaccination Call Center Now Open in Acadiana As more and more coronavirus vaccines are being distributed around the world, a little glimmer of hope is returning for those of us who are anxiously awaiting a return to normal . But, in some cases, information has been sketchy about who, where, and when these vaccines are available. Even if you are the most internet-savvy person on Earth, it can still be confusing. But making things easier this week, there is a new COVID-19 vaccination call center that has just opened in Acadiana. According to KLFY, Dr. Britni Hebert has made it easier for citizens in Acadiana who might not have access to the internet to find a place to get their COVID vaccine. Dr. Hebert has designed the call center to help facilitate the number of vaccines distributed in the area, especially now that we have three different options for getting vaccinated.
