Celebration Cinema South is Finally Open Again as of Thursday

Celebration Cinema South is Finally Open Again as of Thursday Have you been back to a movie theater since the pandemic? I finally went to see the new  Mortal Kombat at Rivertown in Grandville but as someone who lives in Kentwood all I can think is FINALLY the one by me is opening again!! Don t get me wrong, I m a big fan of Celebration North and Studio Park, but sometimes I appreciate the convenience of having a movie theater down the road. Celebration Cinema announced that their South location will be open again on Thursday after being closed for over a year now. According to Grand Rapids Business Journal,  resuming the South location and Studio C in Okemos will complete the reopening of Celebration s 10 [indoor] theaters since the pandemic.

Those Who Wish Me Dead - Movie Review - The Austin Chronicle

In Hollywood, there is a couch. It s been in the same office since about 1998, which is when someone stuffed in it a copy of the script for Those Who Wish Me Dead. Somehow, after gathering dust for decades, it got dislodged in a meeting, an exec picked it up, got it confused with a different project, and accidentally greenlit it. That is the best possible explanation for how this incredibly workmanlike thriller ended up starring Angelina Jolie as a former smoke jumper (those firefighters who parachute into infernos) who ends up protecting a young kid from two assassins – all in the middle of a massive forest fire.

Those Who Wish Me Dead Fails in a World on Fire

An Angelina Jolie wildfire movie is every disasterologist’s dream, but Those Who Wish Me Dead ignores our current nightmare. Instead of leaving us with a high from an action-packed Jolie film, we were left wondering why Hollywood isn’t doing more to help us through our collective anxieties in the midst of a pandemic and a revolving door of climate-related disasters. Advertisement In this time of uncertainty, we are craving a disaster narrator, someone to tell us what is happening, why, and what to do to fix it. That is the responsibility of disaster storytellers today: To hold the mirror up to us, show us our future with inaction, and then show us the pathway out.

Angelina Jolie poses with a bunch of buzzing bees for World Bee Day

Angelina Jolie seems to be raiding beehives instead of tombs lately.  The actress posed for National Geographic to raise awareness for World Bee Day on May 20 and, yes, she is covered in bees for the photo. Jolie wore a white, sustainable dress designed by Gabriela Hearst while a bundle of bees swarmed her body.  Some people may be a little freaked out at the idea, but not Jolie. It just felt lovely to be connected to these beautiful creatures, she told National Geographic in an interview published Wednesday. I think part of the thought behind it was, this creature is seen as dangerous sometimes or stinging. So how do we just be with it?
