Spiral Tops The Weekend Box Office With Tepid $8 7 Million Debut

Spiral Tops The Weekend Box Office With Tepid $8.7 Million Debut Spiral s below-average ticket sales made for a lackluster weekend at the pandemic-stricken box office, as more cinema chains began to slowly reopen. As more cinemas begin reopening around the country, the last weekend of new releases were off to a slow start at the North American box office. Spiral: From the Book of Saw only managed to earn $8.7 million, well below the $10-$15 million it was originally projected to make. Interestingly, Spiral s debut still makes for a sixth number one opening for a Saw movie, although this achievement comes amidst different circumstances, lukewarm reviews, and very little competition in its way due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

Spiral Saws Off Box Office Weekend Win

© Lionsgate The latest round of box office numbers have come in and we’re getting another look at how theaters are performing. With more and more of them opening back up now, availability is less of an issue – though we’re seeing a lot of theaters on reduced hours and no late-night showings at the moment. Our local Regal, for example, their last shows are now at 7:30 at the latest. Which makes sense if you’re not seeing a lot of people coming out. And that seems to be true.  Spiral took the top spot this weekend with an $8.7 million take for the three-day period. As distributors try out various types of films to see what people will come out to – and as people and businesses grapple with changing mask mandates over the next couple of weeks as well – it’s very hard to really have your finger on what’s happening because it’s so all over the map.

Those Who Wish Me Dead: Angelina Jolie s back in action thriller

Those Who Wish Me Dead: Angelina Jolie s back in action thriller James City A.M. s film editor and a regular on both TV and radio discussing the latest movie releases It’s been an interesting decade for one of the world’s most famous stars. Angelina Jolie has arguably enjoyed a profile higher than most actors this century, but celebrity hasn’t always translated into box office. After being one of the big draws of the 2000s, her live action output in the 2010s has garnered mixed results – Salt, The Tourist, and Maleficent proved her to be a draw, but as the decade went on the failures of By The Sea and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil showed signs of a star on the wane. Can action-thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead kick off some positive momentum before she enters the Marvel Universe with November’s Eternals?
