Lekkas cannot rejoin Fort Wayne, but Hawkins expected Monday

Defense had been the focal point for the Komets coming into Friday night. And the defense was improved, as Fort Wayne defeated the Wheeling Nailers 2-1 in front of an announced crowd of 2,419 at Memorial Coliseum.
“I was pleased from the start of the game, right till the end,” Fort Wayne coach Ben Boudreau said. “Even going back to Thursday’s practice habits, I thought we were committed to our craft, knowing we’d laid an egg (in a 4-3 loss to Wheeling) on Wednesday.”
The Komets lost 5-4 to the Indy Fuel on Saturday night. A judgment call may have changed the scope of the game, but an uncharacteristically poor defen .
The Indy Fuel had a 2 goal lead late in this game but failed to see it through to the end as they fell 5-4 in the overtime session to Fort Wayne at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Indianapolis came into this contest having lost 7 of their last 10 overall, but thereâs nothing like facing your I-69 arch-nemesis to put fire in their eyes and they dominated with effort and hustle throughout this game. The two teams entered the game snarling and sniffing out the competition on Pucks and Paws day where we were treated to the pets filling the stands at the 38th Street Doghouse.Â
