Female artists from all around the world participating in Spotify s EQUAL campaign
The EQUAL playlists will be launched in each country, and will feature 50 of the country s domestic female artists from various genres through monthly updates. Spotify will also be launching EQUAL Global, which features 70 female artists from all around the world. EQUAL features female artists such as Saweetie, Griff, G.E.M, Nadine Lustre and more.

In South Korea, Red Velvet s Wendy, who recently made her debut as a solo artist, joined the campaign as the first Korean female artist to represent the country in the campaign.

The opening musical number in “Best Summer Ever” ends with a kiss between protagonists Sage (Shannon DeVido) and Tony (Rickey Wilson Jr.), who fall in love at a sleepaway dance camp in Vermont. Executive producer Will Halby said he shared a realization with his crew while filming this scene.
“I turned to our directors and said, ‘I don’t think that this is something that has ever been put on film before,’” Halby said.
What’s unprecedented here is that Sage is in a wheelchair and is played by an actress who herself is in a wheelchair. In fact, it’s the first musical to star people with disabilities and the first SAG-registered movie in which more than half the cast and crew are disabled.

Spotify aims to foster equity for women in audio with the official launch of its EQUAL Music Program and inaugural class of 35 female artists from around the world including Saweetie, Natalia Lafourcade and Tkay Maidza who will receive playlist support, marketing and more for the next year.
The program announced today (April 29) builds off of Spotify s EQUAL campaign for International Women s Day last month, which included a playlist hub for female artists and podcasters and a 15-member EQUAL Board. Alongside the artist program, the newly-announced elements include a suite of additional playlists and the relaunch of Spotify s directory of female creators in partnership with SoundGirls, all with the new tagline Women at full volume.
