Leaders from all four Grand Slam tournaments have pledged to address mental health concerns seriously after Naomi Osaka withdrew from the French Open. Osaka, the world s No. 2 player, was facing steep fines, disqualification and suspension from future tournaments over her refusal to speak to media outlets during the tournament. While players wellbeing has always been a priority to the Grand Slams, our intention, together with the WTA, the ATP and the ITF, is to advance mental health and wellbeing through further actions, the organizations said in a statement Tuesday. Together as a community we will continue to improve the player experience at our tournaments, including as it relates to media.
