New Delhi [India], May 2 (ANI): The counting of votes will begin on Sunday for the high-stakes assembly polls in four states- Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the union territory of Puducherry.
All necessary arrangements have been made by the Election Commission has made necessary arrangements for counting which will begin at 8 am across counting centres.
The outcome of assembly polls is likely to have implications for politics at the national level.
The exit polls for the four states and a Union Territory predicted a clear victory for DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu, LDF retaining power in Kerala and BJP-led NDA in Assam and a tight contest in Bengal with several surveys giving an edge to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). In Puducherry, the polls predicted victory for NDA.
GUWAHATI: Despite trends till Sunday afternoon showing a comeback for the BJP in Assam, the Congress claimed that the Grand Alliance of the opposition parties will emerge victorious and form the government once the final results are out.
All India Congress Committee National General Secretary Jitendra Singh said the trends so far will be reversed in the next two to four hours. I am still saying that the Mahajot will form the government. Only 3-4 rounds are over at this moment, while counting will continue for more than 15 rounds in most of the seats, said Singh, the in-charge of Assam Congress.

BJP-led NDA set to form govt in Assam again, leads in 75 seats

Guwahati, May 2 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or Mitrajot (Alliance of Friends) is set to form the government in Assam for the second consecutive time, as the ruling alliance according to the latest trends is likely to win 75 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The Congress-led Mahajot (Grand Alliance) is expected to win 45 seats.
The Election Commission (EC) is yet to declare the final result on any of the 126 seats as the counting of votes is still in progress in 34 districts across the northeastern state.
