Assam polls: Congress demands CCTV feed from strong rooms for candidates over EVMs security
Congress has demanded to make the CCTV feed from strong rooms across the state be made available to the candidates to allay doubts regarding the security of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

A day after the third and last phase of the Assam Assembly polls ended, the Congress party on Wednesday demanded that the Election Commission of India (ECI) make the CCTV feed from strong rooms across the state available to the candidates.

Polling began on a brisk note, rain in the afternoon dampened spirit a bit High voter turnout and minor issues marked the Assembly elections in the district on Tuesday.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 74.75% of the total 17.82 lakh electorate exercised their right to vote when the polling closed at 7 p.m. The voting percentage is likely to go up as the Election Commission has not yet released the final figures.
All India Congress Committee Secretary Sanjay Dutt, on Sunday alleged that if the NDA was voted to power in Puducherry in the April 6 assembly elections, all anti people policies of the BJP would be automatically enforced here. Addressing reporters at the party office here, Dutt said although the Prime Minister had visited Puducherry for poll campaigns, he had not projected AINRC leader N Rangasamy as the Chief Ministerial candidate. Charging the BJP with having adopted all obstructionist policies to stall development of the union territory during the five-year Congress rule, the AICCSecretary said the national party supported the plea of full statehood for Puducherry and was for waiver of loans due to the Centre.

Ahead of the third and final phase of Assam assembly polls, the Congress party has once again raised questions on the reliability of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the autonomy of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Speaking to India Today TV, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and in-charge of Assam Jitendra Singh Alwar on Sunday said no one has faith in EVMs and the Congress party is continuously speaking about it and has also filed a petition before the Supreme Court.
