India faced with tall order: AIFF general secretary ahead of WC, Asian Cup Qualifiers
New Delhi, May 24: All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das on Monday said the men’s national team will have its task cut out in the remaining joint 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Qatar next month.
The team, bolstered by the return of talisman Sunil Chhetri, is undergoing a preparatory camp inside a bio-bubble in Doha before its first match on June 3 against hosts Qatar. The other two matches are against Bangladesh (June 7) and Afghanistan (June 15).
“Coach Igor Stimac is faced with a tall order with Bangladesh having just finished their premier league and having been in a camp since then,” Das told PTI.

New Delhi, May 21 : The 2022 FIFA under-17 Women s World Cup will be held in India from October 11 to 30, 2022, football s global governing body said. India was set to host the 2021 u-17 Women s World Cup before it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The World Cup was originally to be played between November 2 and 21, 2020, before being postponed to 2021. It was to be staged from February 17-March 7. The announcement of the dates for U-17 Women s World Cup India 2022 marks a fresh beginning for the tournament. Speaking to the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Chhetri reminisced about playing the 2011 Asian Cup and the 2016 AFC Cup final with India and Bengaluru FC respectively in Doha.
What did Chhetri say? Doha has always had an emotional connection with me. It was there that I played in the 2011 Asian Cup, and also the AFC Cup final for my club Bengaluru FC, said Chhetri on going back to Qatar after a gap of five years. Personally, I am eagerly looking forward to being in Doha. The last time I was in Doha, I couldn t be a part of the match against Qatar owing to illness, added Chhetri.
