New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) Everyone had high hopes from the players who formed the Indian team that competed at the 2017 Under-17 Football World Cup in India and predicted that many of those would go on to form a formidable senior national team sooner than later.
But, in over three years since the World Cup, only one of the 21 players captain Amarjit Singh Kiyam has broken into the national team while the others have only been playing in the national and state-level leagues in India and abroad.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) this week unveiled the logo for its bid to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, and the campaign slogan, Brighter Future Together . India is one among the five countries bidding for the tournament along with Asian champions Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Uzbekistan. The 2019 Asian Cup was hosted by the United Arab Emirates and the 2023 edition of the tournament will be hosted by China. The host of the 2027 Asian Cup will be announced in 2021. Hosting Asia s biggest football event, the AFC Asian Cup 2027 will be a huge milestone for Indian sports, said Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, himself along with AIFF president Praful Patel unveiled the logo and slogan.
