New Delhi [India], February 14 (ANI): The newly elected president of the All India Chess Federation, Sanjay Kapoor, unveiled a blueprint to turn the country into a chess superpower here on Sunday, starting with the decision to bid for the next available Chess Olympiad and commencing a high-profile Indian Chess League soon. We want India to become the chess destination for the world. We have drawn out a detailed plan to achieve this goal, Sanjay said at a press conference, immediately after a power-packed AGM.
He revealed that a foolproof bid would soon be prepared to bag the coveted world event as and when the process would begin.

The Government of India has been awarding the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to children with exceptional abilities and outstanding accomplishments, in the fields of innovation, scholastics, sports, arts and culture, social service and bravery.
The children who have been conferred the award in various categories are Tanuj Samaddar from Assam (Art & culture), Venish Keisham from Manipur (Art and culture), Arshiya Das from Tripura (Sports) and Ayush Ranjan from Sikkim (Innovation)

Chennai, Jan 12 : The global chess body FIDE has recognised the new office bearers of All India Chess Federation (AICF) by updating its official page.
Last year FIDE had taken down the list of office bearers of AICF following a court order nullifying the latter s election of office bearers.
FIDE had then added a note in the AICF page on its website: The dispute between two parties remains under review of the competent national organ.
