Kolkata, Jan 29 : Rebel Trinamool Congress leader Rajib Banerjee on Friday resigned from the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and tendered his resignation letter to party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier in the day, Rajib Banerjee had also resigned from the West Bengal legislative Assembly. On January 22, he had stepped down as state forest minister.
Rajib Banerjee was an MLA from the Domjur Assembly constituency in Howrah district. On Friday, he met Speaker Biman Banerjee in the Assembly and tendered his resignation.

Sixteen opposition parties to boycott Presidential address in Parliament
New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) A total 16 opposition parties, including Indian National Congress, will boycott the Presidential address in Parliament on Friday to register their protest against newly-enacted farm laws and show solidarity towards farmers protesting at Delhi s borders for more than two months, an official statement said on Thursday.
As per the official release, the parties which have agreed to boycott the address are Indian National Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK),All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Commusnist Party of India (CPI), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Jammu and Kashmir People s Democratic Party (PDP), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Kerala Cong
NEW DELHI: Sixteen Indian opposition parties on Thursday accused the government of orchestrating violence that left one person dead and hundreds injured during a farmers’ protest earlier this week.
A protest march in New Delhi by thousands of farmers demanding the repeal of three controversial farm laws turned violent on India’s Republic Day on Tuesday as clashes broke out between the police and protesters.
Tens of thousands of farmers have been camped on the outskirts of the national capital for more than two months to protest against the laws passed in September, which they say leave them at the mercy of corporations.
