New Delhi: Mamata Banerjee was on Thursday waging a hardy battle with the Modi government that demanded three of her IPS officers on central deputation against her will, and another with mutinous Trinamool Congress leaders led by a regional satrap seeking to thwart her bid for a third term in office.
As the West Bengal chief minister was busy containing the fallout of an internecine feud in her TMC following a rebellion by a redoubtable Suvendu Adhikari, the Centre shot off a fresh letter to her government to immediately relieve three IPS officers for central deputation.

New Delhi, Dec 18: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has come out in support of West Bengal government and Mamata Banerjee who is waging a hard battle with the Modi government over the transfer of three IPS officers.

Encroaching on the rights of states by attempting to transfer police officers to Centre just before elections, is an assault on federalism and an attempt to destabilize, Kejriwal tweeted on Friday morning.

Kolkata: West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee on Friday refused to accept the resignation letter of TMC MLA Suvendu Adhikari as it does not conform to the provisions of the Constitution and the rules of the House. I have examined the letter a d found that date isn t specified in it. I hadn t been informed that his (Suvendu Adhikari) resignation is voluntary and genuine. So it s not possible to accept it. I ve asked him to appear before me on 21st Dec, news agency ANI quoted the Speaker as saying.

A day after Trinamool Congress heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari resigned just hours before Jitendra Tiwari from the party, the trend continued on Friday as another legislator from Mamata Banerjee s party from Barrackpore assembly constituency, Shilbhadra Dutta, too, called it quits.
According to sources, Dutta also replaced Banerjee s photo, hung on the wall of his office, with Swami Vivekananda. He surrendered the car given by the state government. He said if the government wants it can withdraw his security cover as well.
Dutta sent his resignation letter to Trinamool supremo Banerjee. I am tendering my resignation as a member of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), as well as from all other positions held by me in the party and its associate organisations with immediate effect, he writes in the letter.
