The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has demanded that the draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021 must be put in the public domain before starting a discussion on the same. The AIPEF shot off a letter to the Prime Minister on Friday last week and pushed for placing the bill in public domain for stakeholders comments.
The draft bill is not available on the power ministry website, AIPEF Spokesperson V K Gupta said in a statement. According to the statement, the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021 is included in the list of 20 new bills to be placed in the current budget session of Parliament.

Dubey said all power engineers across the country will go for nationwide struggle along with 1.5 million power employees against Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021.
Power sector employees boycott work to protest privatisation

× Employees of electricity distribution companies (discoms) across India will resort to a boycott of work on February 3. The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has been called the protest, which has said that about 15 lakh power sector workers will take part in the boycott to voice opposition against the union government’s push for privatisation of discoms.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the federation has expressed objections to the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020, and the ministry of power s Standard Bidding Document for discom privatisation. The latest case of privatisation was in October 2020, when Tata Power took over Odisha s Central Electricity supply Undertaking (CESU).
Power employees to go on nationwide strike on February 3

Hyderabad: Power employees in the state to boycott work on February 3 against the privatization policy of the Government of India.
The All-India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) wants the withdrawal process of privatisation of electricity in states and Union territories.
The boycott will be in response to a nationwide call by the National coordinating committee for power employees and engineers (NCCEEE).
The Telangana unit announcing its decision on Monday, alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched at the Centre to hand over power distribution business to corporates close to the BJP-led government so that consumers could have any business.
