Tamil Nadu Election Results: DMK Alliance Crosses Minimum Seats Needed for Simple Majority

New Delhi:Â With counting of votes underway, the DMK is currently leading in 117 and its allies in 19 of the state’s 234 seats, and the AIADMK alliance is leading in 94 seats.
As per the available data on the EC site, the DMK appears on course to emerge as not only the single largest party in the state but also to gain a complete majority on its own. The All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which had also badly lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the state â managing to win just one seat while the DMK-led alliance had walked away with all the other 38 â has shown little sign of improvement in these polls.
NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday registered a third consecutive victory in the state assembly election.
Mamata, the TMC supremo, successfully took on the BJP juggernaut led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah besides a battery of national and state leaders.
Though the BJP had set a target of winning more than 200 of the 292 seats which went to polls, it was the TMC instead which crossed the double century mark. In the process, the BJP got restricted to double digit figures.

Sharanu Salagar defeats Mala Narayanrao by an impressive margin of 20,629 votes
BJP candidate Sharanu Salagar defeated his nearest rival Mala B. Narayanrao of the Congress by an impressive margin of 20,629 votes. The byelection to the constituency, which was necessitated by the demise of incumbent representative in the Assembly B. Narayanrao, was held on April 17 and counting was taken up on Sunday.
Counting began at B.V. Bhumareddy College in Bidar at 8 a.m. as scheduled after the strongroom where the EVMs were kept was opened in the presence of candidates and election and security officers, including Bidar Deputy Commissioner R. Ramachandran and Superintendent of Police Nagesh D.L.
