Assam polls: Sushmita Dev annoyed with seat allocation, Congress denies rumours of her resignation ANI | Updated: Mar 06, 2021 17:30 IST By Siddharth Sharma Dispur (Assam) [India], March 6 (ANI): Congress leader and former Member of Parliament Sushmita Dev has been left annoyed with the seat-sharing method employed in the party s alliance with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) in Assam ahead of the assembly polls. According to sources, Sushmita, who is the president of the All India Mahila Congress (AIMC), is upset with the seat allocation to AIUDF in Silchar, her own constituency and also about the selection of candidates in Silchar. She has also expressed her objection regarding the consideration of an ex-MLA from one of the assembly seats. Sushmita also approached Congress state in-charge Bhawar Jitendra Singh over the issue, as per sources.

SILCHAR: Dissatisfied with the Congress-led grand alliance’s seat-sharing policy, All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev on Saturday sent a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi expressing her desire to resign from her post and quit the party. Dev is unhappy about Congress giving away a majority of the 15 seats in Assam’s Barak Valley to its ally AIUDF to contest in the polls that will be held in phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6. She flew down to New Delhi to express her grievances before the party chief. The former Silchar MP reportedly opposed the candidature of former party MLA Rumi Nath from Barkhala.
