Trade unions forum gives call to observe Black Day on May 26

A joint forum of ten central trade unions on Thursday gave a call to observe Black Day for Indian Democracy on May 26 by weaning black badges and putting up black flags to press the government for their demands on May 26.
Their demands include free vaccination for all, free ration and Rs 7,500 per month for the poor, repealing three farm laws and minimum support price for crops and withdrawal of four labour codes passed by Parliament last year. These codes are not implemented so far because rules under those are yet to be notified.

Last week the historic farmers’ struggle had two great events to celebrate. The first was May Day and the second was the defeat of the BJP in the three major state assembly elections of Kerala, Tamilnadu and West Bengal, followed closely by the big setbacks to the BJP in the three-tier panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Among lakhs of farmers, whose struggle has now crossed five months, with over 400 martyrs, there has been tremendous anger building up against the BJP-RSS central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
