Over the past couple of months, I have been horrified at the level of immorality that has become widespread. As Christians, I believe it is not enough to cry about the decadence happening in society. We must start becoming the lights we are meant to be.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Mathew chapter 28 verse 19)
In Mathew 28, Jesus commands his disciples to make disciples of all nations. One of the major responsibilities of Christians is to make disciples. Wherever we find ourselves, we have been given a divine command to shine Christ’s light.
Girl Scout gets veterans accolades

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6873 in Abilene honored a young woman as their Girl Scout of the Year during ceremonies last week.
Olivia Hessock, now a freshman at Angelo State University, received the annual honor. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Norman Hessock of Abilene.
Hessock graduated from Wylie in 2020 – one of the seniors with the misfortune of losing much of their senior year to the COVID pandemic. But before that, she was obviously quite busy.
Before moving to Abilene, she lived in Alaska, where, as a Junior Girl Scout, she earned the Bronze award. Among other requirements, she completed a project teaching badges to Brownies (grades 2-3) and participating in food drives for local food pantries.

Princeton-raised, New York City-based Laurie Berkner is known throughout the world as a beloved kindie rocker of independent children’s music. She’s also an accomplished children’s author and the composer of an off-Broadway.
What’s less known about Laurie is that she got her start in rock music in a New Brunswick indie band called Red Onion, which Makin Waves wrote about back in 1996, a year before she shifted into kindie rock with her own Two Tomatoes Records.

TUPELO ⢠Itawamba Community College s Resource & Referral Network is celebrating the 50th annual Week of the Young Child, a national event to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families while recognizing programs and services that meet those needs.
Tami Doss joined the Resource & Referral Network as its resource referral associate in October 2020. The network has provided free physical and digital resources for child care providers, parents and teachers since it opened in August 2017.
That includes the Week of the Young Child, which is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The weeklong celebration begins next Monday, April 12, and will wrap up Friday, April 16. Each day has a theme that focuses on developing a new skill or learning a new topic.
