Picture: BBC DEAR Editor – I have just watched a re-run of the original All Creatures Great and Small, which happened to be set in the 1950s. I appreciate that this is only a TV show, but it is based upon reality. The opening scene was that of a market town centre in Yorkshire with a distinct lack of traffic (one car!), small shops with produce displayed outside, a young lad on a bicycle delivering fresh bread and people walking along quiet pavements (including a woman pushing one of those fabulous prams with the big hood and curvaceous structure).
